Welcome

I'm so glad you came by. I hope I'll be able to keep things interesting so you'll want to come back for a visit - I love the company!

I have many flowers I will be showing pictures of and a lot of critters that come around looking for a handout. But they give as much as they take since they're so much fun to watch. I always try to have my camera handy hoping for a shot better than the last one.

Cheery Gardens For The Winter Blues

I took pictures last summer of Chehalis, a little town not far from here, because it has some gardens I found attractive and a couple of buildings I like seeing with their plant decor.

One of the streets I take into town welcomes you with a long area of flowers next to an old fence. Remember to click on a picture if you would like to see a larger view.
One of the buildings downtown loaded with white and lavender Wisteria.
A closer view.
Another building close by is covered with ivy.
I find the side of this house very attractive.
A wall with Aubretia and other plants draping over it.
A closer view.
And how could I come to town without going by my favorite parking strip.
I have to drive by this almost everytime I get anywhere close to it.
Just to see what is or isn't blooming.
To see how it looks on a different day.
To make sure it's still there.
And to wonder what is behind that wall of fence and flowers. Do you think I'll get the nerve to knock on the door and ask if they will give me a tour? It's been 2 years now that I've been driving by this strip, taking pictures and wondering but I still haven't asked for a peek.

  2. Dear RG, What a delightful town. I am not surprised that you drive by these lovely places as often as you can. The Wisteria clad building is absolutely wonderful and so beautifully trained.

Yes, I think that you should knock on the door on your very next visit. I am certain that the owner will be thrilled that someone approves of all their efforts and will, I am sure, give you the grand tour!!

  3. You should go ask for a peek right away! Two years is long enough I bet the gardener would love a visit from a fellow garden lover. I am often amazed at people's creativity with gardening! That wisteria-wow!

  6. Hi RG,

This is what I remember the warm weather looks like. Those yellow and white, I think Iris, look beautiful!

  10. What a beautiful street with the trees in bloom. Don't you wish you could sneak a pick into some of those fenced up gardens sometimes? LOL! That wall looks so pretty with the Aubretia growing down over it. Wonderful to see summer in winter. Gotta love these digital cameras. Have a great weekend Linda.

Did I ever tell you that the Sedums you gave the girls did bloom last summer? I'm looking forward to seeing all the plants you gave me bloom again this year. I miss the sun already :)

  14. Beautiful gardens, what great scenery to drive by. I hope you do get up the nerve to knock on the gardener's door one day and see what's behind the fence. Thank you for showing me color on this very gray Wisconsin day.

  16. What a charming town. Adventurous use of flowering vines too ~ I haven't seen Wisteria grown that way, all the way around a building. The fragrance must be wonderful.

  17. It's good to see flowers blooming, even if they are in the photos. With the rain here, and I suppose at your place, it's kind of grey.

PS, the secondary headers at the top of your blog, are those Blogger pages? I am such a backwards blogger, I still haven't figured out how to do that.

  18. Maybe one of these times you drive by the owner will actually be out tending to it and you can strike up a conversation. My fingers are crossed. I love people like this who aren't afraid to beautify the planet. Great shots!
