Welcome

I'm so glad you came by. I hope I'll be able to keep things interesting so you'll want to come back for a visit - I love the company!

I have many flowers I will be showing pictures of and a lot of critters that come around looking for a handout. But they give as much as they take since they're so much fun to watch. I always try to have my camera handy hoping for a shot better than the last one.

Thank You Lona

I guess I've wasted enough time without posting and thanking Lona for the wonderful seeds she sent me a while back. Thank you Lona. They came in the prettiest card too. I was so surprised to find 2 other kinds of Phlox seeds. How exciting to have 3 new tall Phlox in my gardens. And the smell should be just divine! Now I need to get up to the greenhouse and get the seeds sent to her that I have. We've had so much rain and on the couple of days that were beautiful (to look out at) it was just too cold to step outside. I'm such a woos in the cold weather.

I had the hardest time coming down off of the Prednisone they had me on in the hospital and for a few weeks after getting home. I couldn't post and for some reason couldn't even go and read all of your blogs that I love and enjoy reading so much. I tell you I was just flat weird coming down from that horrible stuff this time. And even though I've been ok for a while now I still haven't been able to go read anything. Don't ask I don't have a clue what's going on here.

On the up side I did start taking the Chantix and Wednesday was one month since I quit smoking. Hopefully this will continue to go well for me. I went in to see my lung specialist the other day and my oxygen level was up so I suppose they will be taking the oxygen that I have here at the house away soon.

Now, while I have your attention I have a question for everyone. One of my doctors wants to know where he can buy some really good orchids to grow in his house. Someplace close would be great if any of you Washington or Oregon people know of a good place. But I will also tell him if there are some good places online to purchase them. I told him I know some really great and informed people who would be more than happy to help him with this. ;-)

Some of you wrote to find out if I was ok since you hadn't heard anything from me in over a month. Thank You so much, I really appreciate that you cared enough to do that!

Hopefully I'm back now and will be able to get into my old routine ~ and I hope I can find something to post about because it sure won't be about the yukky mukky mess out in the yard this time of year. ;-)

  2. Nice to see you back, glad your health is a little better. The weather certainly has been awful out there, and it looks like we have more torrential rain coming this weekend, with lots of flood risk.

For orchids, I don't know anywhere close by, but I think your doc might have good luck ordering online from Logee's. They have a great selection! I've never ordered orchids from them, but I have ordered other house plants, and they were always good size and healthy.

Kudos on quitting smoking, hope it continues!

  6. HI! Girl I was starting to worry about you. When some of my blogging buddies go AWOL I get to wondering if something is wrong. Glad to hear that you are getting better. Congrats on your success with the not smoking. You are going to feel better for it. Hang in there. Do not worry about the seeds we have all winter. You take care now and get all that old medicine out of your system.
    Hugs, Lona

  9. I wondered where you were, glad to see you are on your way back. Congratulations on quitting smoking, I know it was a hard thing to do.
Lona is a great seed sharer. I also received some from her.
I went to an orchid place close by me for their holiday sale and bought some plants. They do online orders and shipping. Carter and Holmes.

  10. Dear RG, It is so good that you feel well enough to get back to writing on your weblog. And, what an amazing feat that you have not smoked for a month. That is a real achievement and it is such good news that it seems to be paying off with your general health already.

I am sure that someone amongst your readers will be able to advise about Orchids. I have given up on them as I seem totally incapable of keeping them alive once they arrive in my house!!

  14. Hi Linda, so glad to hear you are progressing well with the non smoking and feeling better than you were. I don't know whether you spotted my comment when you told us about your illness but if you did you will remember that I mentioned I have had lifelong respiratory problems and have been treated with courses of Prednisolone (as it is called here) for many years and I would say that while it has undoubtedly saved my life in the past it has also ruined it in many ways with the amount of side effects I have had, indeed the two eye operations I had this year were as a result of them. I think they are probably OK in short sharp doses but for some years I was on them for prolonged periods which is what has caused me so many problems.

Anyway I am so pleased you are heading in the right direction, stay strong and have a wonderful Christmas!

  16. So sorry to hear you've had a rough recovery. Hope you'll continue to do better now. I've also noticed you haven't been around ~ it just took me a while to get over here and check on you.
I've ordered orchids thru Amazon from the place Janet mentioned (Carter and Holmes). The plants were healthy and are doing well. I hope that helps and also wish you a Merry Christmas and Healthy New Year!
