Welcome

I'm so glad you came by. I hope I'll be able to keep things interesting so you'll want to come back for a visit - I love the company!

I have many flowers I will be showing pictures of and a lot of critters that come around looking for a handout. But they give as much as they take since they're so much fun to watch. I always try to have my camera handy hoping for a shot better than the last one.

Tipsy Pots and Other Containers I'm Planting

I finally did my tipsy pots. I've wanted some ever since I saw my first one over a year ago. I was at an estate sale a few months back and they had some old clay pots and I grabbed them. Only problem is I've been sooooooooooooooo busy with planting and trying to get these beds filled in I haven't had time for any fun projects. Well, this week I decided I was caught up with myself enough to at least do one fun thing. So I've been painting the pots the last couple of days.
I love the color I ended up doing them in. First I based them with hunter green and then took a can of the 'granite' like spray paint in a teal and went over them leaving some of the hunter to show through. I'll probably change the plants in them a hundred times before I'm happy.

Remember the adorable little basket/box I got at a 2nd hand shop a while back? It was the first container I did. I just love it. The pink flower is Diascia which I've never had before and a friend recommended. It's great - we've had downpours of rain and it looks untouched. And look at the new Sedum in the front on the right. It's not hardy but I had to have it with that sweet little bloom. I'll try to winter it inside.

Here's a closer shot of it with the bloom.

Here's a wire basket I got at a garage sale, it's green with ivy on it. This one also has Diascia in a different pink but it isn't blooming yet.
Another new Semp in a sweet little patina green bowl. Called Twilight Blue. I'm trying to add more small reds to my collection so I can have them for contrast in my living wreaths I'm almost ready to start doing.

I love this cobalt oval planter and is it ever heavy. It came in 3 different sizes but this small one alone was $29.99. Whew! I got it on sale for 60% off at Joannes so I only paid$12 for it. Good deal huh? I put some Sedums, a little Fuchsia and a Heuchera, which still hasn't snapped out of being limp. Hope it does soon.

I bought a set of 3 of these pots. Same price as the cobalt one. Then decided I needed to do it again while they were so cheap.

This primitive planter came from Doris' place. I'll have to show it again when it fills in - hopefully it will fill in.
Another cutie from Doris' place - a green metal basket with apples around it.

Is this sweet or what? I got it at a garage sale for $3.00. I done good huh?

A little mottled gray thundermug and a popcorn like tin - more treasures from Doris' place. I'm gonna be thinking of that woman everywhere I look around my place now. I also got some primitive benches of hers that I will be setting some of these older containers on around the place. Either in flower beds or not. ;-)

A group shot of what I've been planting and why I've not been posting much.

  2. Beautiful Linda. I like those planters - I like the heavy containers best. They retain water better. It shows that you've been working hard. Neat job on the tipsy planters. I like that you painted them. I am especially fond of the planters that are more woodsy and baskets.

  5. You have been busy! I love how everything turned out. Great deal on the blue planters!

BTW ONE of the poppy seeds you gave me is still growing and has a bud on it. So strange that only one survived, but I'm guarding it and hoping it'll bloom this week.

  8. Your absence is 100% excused!!! You've got a LOT to show for it. All your containers are just beautiful. I've wanted to try that granite paint but never have ~ it looks great. Love the basket with the diascia in it. I have a perennial variety that blooms all summer in my garden, can't say enough good about it.
