After my post about the hijacking Dirt Princess, of Trials & Tribulations Of A Southern Gardener went into her 'Rant and Rave' mode and I just love when she does this! She doesn't do it often but when she does she really tells it like she sees it. And Wednesday I was the lucky recipient! It's always good to have a princess backing ya up!!! Thanks DP I'm soooooo happy to have you on my side. This young lady seems to be blessed with an overabundance of energy and personality that just won't quit! She participates in so much and is always starting something great in the blogging world for everyone to join in and have fun with. From Bilbo travelling around the world to her latest one of 'Seed Swappin' that she just started on Sunday. You are definitely a great addition to the world of blogging!
Everyone has been asking how I found out about this person that stole my posts and I have Catherine, of A Gardener In Progress to thank for telling me about that. I'm so happy that she saw it and emailed to tell me what was going on. She is truly one of the nicest bloggers I have met since I started in February, although that is a really tough call since I have met so many wonderful people on here. I'm just sweet talking Catherine because for months we've been trying to get together to meet and have our own little plant and seed swap. Both dates we've set one of us has gotten sick. But with mine the recovery has been so long we still haven't made it. We will . . . and I can hardly wait!
Then Tatyana of My Secret Garden did a really informative post telling everyone of the different things we can do to protect ourselves. So I must say that some good really did come of all this. So many people have commented that they've gone to get Copyscape and they are going to put their names on their pictures now. As you can see from the pictures I've shown here I did at one time start putting my name on mine but I had to do every one individually because I didn't have a program to make a transparent stamp I could just do each time. And I didn't think my stuff was so great that anyone would ever want it when there are so many beautiful pictures on the internet. I'm just glad it was mine they took and not someone else's who this is very important to. Oh don't get me wrong - I love doing this but for me it is just a fun and relaxing (most of the time) thing to do. Some people are a lot more serious about it than I am and I would hate it to happen to them and they would be all stressed out about it. I am not going to stress. I looked on blogger to see what could be done but when they mentioned that there could be attorney fees I stopped. Now that would really stress me. I'm just going to let it go - otherwise if I start stressing I won't enjoy doing it anymore. It would be defeating my whole purpose of enjoying my posting.

Glad to see that RianGardener logo on those pictures. No, it doesn't pay to tick off a Princess ;-)
Your logo looks real good Raingardener. Like you say some good can come of this. I am going to try to put a logo on my photos. I downloaded the Picaso so we'll see. I am so glad that you aren't stressed over what happened - just glad that you were able to find out thanks to Catherine. Blogging is fun but someone shouldn't steal someone else's fun stuff. Are you feeling better now?
You didn't say whether you flagged that blog with the 'Report Abuse' button. You then click to go to the next screen where you're told how to report copyright infringement. In the old days, it wasn't that forthright and you had to go under Help, which is what I first advised. If you keep digging around, you can find where to notify Blogger and you might get some recourse there.
Hi Lona, no, it certainly doesn't - glad I'm on the right side. ;-)
Thanks Becca - I went to download piccasa once for a collage and they brought up everything in my computer which I didn't like so I've never done anything with them again. Maybe I'll try again as everyone else seems to like them ok. I am slowly coming off these meds but still don't feel right in the head LOL but Dr. says it's normal.
Hi Nell Jean, yes, I did go over the report abuse thing and really didn't get anywhere - I've gone a couple of different routes and can't really find anything I can use. When I saw the part about lawyer fees I backed off. I'll be darned if I'm going to pursue this only to get a big bill in the end. I'll check again though and see if anything different comes up. You know this person wasn't afraid to lift my stuff as the first ones they took had my name on the pictures. They probably know nothing is going to happen to them since criminals are so well protected in this country.
The 'borrower' is probably quite happy about all the attention-don't you think? That is what she/he wants. Such a shame about it all.
I thought about that too Tina, but at least it's not good attention and I'm sure no one is clicking on the ads.
What a great post and lovely tribute to your friends.
I hope you are well soon and get to meet up with Catherine soon.
The tips on posting were useful too.
With a photo like your last one especially, who wouldn't want to copy.
I actually have a slight confession in that whilst trying to learn about IT and sizes etc of photos I did copy one photo from someone's blog into my files. It was truely only an experiment and was soon deleted. But reading all this I hope I am forgiven. I think it might have been from Catherine's only because I admire her photos so. I am still playing around with Picasa trying to load larger photos by using URL but can't get them to work.
Now I feel better for confessing and I won't do it again.
I love when the Princess gets on her soapbox too! :)
Tatyana's post was also a great one with great suggestions. I just wish I could figure out the watermark part.
We will meet hopefully before it snows :)
While this has been a pain in the butt, all the information that has come from the garden blogger world has been wonderful. Way to go Catherine for seeing the offensive blog, many thanks to Tatyana for all the 'tagging' information and I am on my way over to see Dirt Princess' rant.
I knew I liked this group of bloggers!!!
Thank you Joanne and that is just too funny. I'm sure glad you feel better now for confessing. LOL
Same here Catherine - I downloaded Picasa and still can't figure it out. I probably could if I could find it. Boy I hope before it snows. LOL
Yes Janet some good did come out of it although I'm still trying to figure out how to do it at Picasa. Ding Ding Ding! Boy do I feel smart. LOL
I did not even know someone could do that. DP is so great for standing up for a good cause! Glad you got it all figured out.
What the f.... is wrong with people? Sorry but said offender must not realize that creating a blog is not that difficult. I mean, if I can do it, anyone can. Why steal someone else's? Makes no sense. But then I'm not a non-empathic, conscious-less sociopath. I agree, Catherine is a gem! And Dirt Princess too. We're all in this together. It's nice to see how everyone has rallied around you.
Hi Heather, yes they can and apparently this person wasn't concerned about getting in any trouble as they started out by taking pictures that I did have signed. Nothing amazes me anymore!
Grace that's too funny! But at least some good came out of it.
Hi, RainGardener, I just want you to know I am behind you, too. I only just found out this was going on, as I have had computer problems and haven't checked your wonderful blog for quite a while. Thanks for the links and all the great information. I hope you feel better soon. Pamela xxox
I think they're just covering their asses when they say there are potential "lawyer fees". That's ridiculous. Google is perfectly within their right to terminate the blog/blogger without a lawyer, and I very much doubt the person responsible for that blog is going to hire an international lawyer to sue Google over their supposed right to have that blog. They are not required to continue services for this individual(s), and Google has a lot to lose if they are not willing to back up the people who support them.
If this continues without a response from Google, then Blogger/Blogspot will become basically useless and irritating to use because of all the scraper sites that outright steal content without giving credit at the very least.
One thing that doesn't make sense to me is why so many of the visitors seem to be coming from mtvhalong(dot)com (DO NOT VISIT IF YOU DON'T WANT TO SEE SOME BOOB NUDITY). It might be part of the scam in some way, but it seems odd to me.
Linda, I agree with Grace. Blogger/Google should have within their rights to terminate that particular blog to set an example. And, yes, her followers/ads are just spam junk sites so DO NOT click!
Nice post here!
still haven't had time to send your seeds...sorry girl....BUT MINE ARRIVED TODAY!!! I am so excited!
Don't know HOW I missed all this, but there are a few real JERKS out there. Read Dirt Princess post & that was SUPER! Go gettum! Sorry that this happened to you, sweetie. Have a beautiful week. TTFN ~Marydon
I really don't know HOW I missed this!!!! You are soooo sweet! You are right, I have made tons of friends through blogging! You are just too kind! I never imagined when I started blogging that I would make friends with other bloggers, but I have made some great ones, and will continue to make more!
Yo are so right about all the great people we've met by blogging. I'm glad you've gotten so much support. You have certainly brought to light the ugly side of posting stuff on the web. I'm glad you've put your name back on your photos. Maybe that will help some? I know if someone is really determined they can erase it but at least they have to work for it!
Hope you and Catherine can get together ~ that would be a fun time.
I'm so glad you worked out the whole mess. And, thanks for turing me on to Copyscape ... just checked it and loaded the banner to my blog.
